I currently reside in Philadelphia. I am originally from the metro-Detroit area. I hold a BA in Philosophy from the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!), an MA in Communication Studies from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign, and a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Rutgers University.
I first became interested in studying communication as an undergraduate student because of two key experiences: first, when I took a linguistic anthropology course; and second, when, a few months later, I acquired a summer position that involved teaching high school students from across the globe about the dynamics of interpersonal communication. By the time the class was over, I was totally hooked and set my sights on becoming a professor so that I could dedicate my life to researching and teaching about the complexities of human communication.
In my spare time, I enjoy exercise, learning more about mindfulness, and exploring all that Philadelphia and its surrounding region have to offer.
